We experienced a problem with our proxy server on Tuesday, Jan 29 and that has put some devices into a strange state where they connect to our server, but trying to access the device will either hang or result in an error. We determined that this issue was introduced by a bug in v0.80 of the firmware. If you're running this version, we urge you to upgrade to v0.81 as soon as possible. To see what firmware you're running, you can click on the device's "Status" link. On that page, you can see the firmware-version in the last line of the table. To upgrade your device, click on the "Tools" link, then on the "Firmware Upgrade" link in the menu on the left, then on the "Upgrade Firmware" button. You may need to enter a username and password at this point. By default, username "owner" and password "default" can be used when connected to the device directly through your LAN (i.e., not through egauge.net).

Note that you should be able to access your device from your LAN at URL:

http://egaugeNN.local/
where NN is the number of your device. If you're running any version of the Windows operating system, please make sure you have Apple's Bonjour installed to ensure that .local names work. It is available for a free download at this site:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/Bonjour_for_Windows
(On other operating systems, including Mac OS X and Linux, .local names should work without requiring any additional software.)

Once connected locally, you can reboot the device by clicking on "Tools->Reboot" and entering the username/password (normally owner/default). The "Tools" link is on the top-right of the eGauge screen (if you don't see a "Tools" link, please contact us at support@egauge.net). Once rebooted, your device should be accessible through http://egauge.net/devices/ again.

Note that we recommend bookmarking the .local URL and using it to access your eGauge whenever on your LAN, since that's faster than going through egauge.net and will work even if your Internet connection is down for any reason.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
